Well, we found a really gorgeous engraved titanium ring for my husband’s wedding band. It’s pretty thick and fits pretty tightly. We’ve been married for less than two months, but a couple of days after the wedding, my husband showed me that the where the band was on his finger turned his skin white. It doesn’t appear to be a reaction, but a similar problem to when you have a bandaid on too long. It also gets an icky smell (like foot odor)… Yikes!
I told him to remove it at night, to take it off when he washes his hands, and to dry it really well. He’s been doing all those things. He also occasionally takes it off and moves it over to the other hand a few hours a day.
What else can he do? Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? I suggested putting Baby Gold Bond powder on his finger after washing and drying. I am wondering if maybe anti-perspirant might also help.
We love the ring and would hate to have to get him a different one, but I don’t want him to have to put up with stinky finger to wear it!
Thanks!
Hmm. We are certain it isn’t really an allergy. There is no redness or itching, just the whiteness and wrinkliness that occurs when your skin is damp for too long. I am afraid the ring might be a little tight–I’ve told him that all along, but he insists that it fits fine. Unfortunately, it’s true that titanium can’t be resized, and that ring only comes in full sizes, not half-sizes. If anyone can think of anything short of him not wearing it or us having to purchase another, I’d greatly appreciate it!

My husband's wedding band causes a white ring and makes his finger stinky… Ideas?
January 25th, 2011What's more desirable in a diamond ring, a white gold or yellow gold band?
January 3rd, 2011Just wanted to know what’s more desirable between a white gold band and a yellow gold band for an engagement or wedding ring. In this case, we’ve been married over 20 years and my wife’s wedding ring is yellow gold from years ago, which she still has and mine is a matching yellow gold, but she lost the diamond from her engagement ring (also was yellow gold) years ago and I’m thinking of surprising her and replacing it with a diamond ring with white gold, which I heard is more contemporary these days. But I heard we should not mix and match between the two (one is yellow gold while the other is white gold and vice-versa) because it may not look right when wearing both. But white gold seems to be more popular these days. Should we just change both our wedding bands as well if I got her a white gold replacement diamong ring? The jeweler suggested I get a yellow band "enhancer" (basically another band or ring) that houses or surrounds the white gold band with the diamond, kind of blending the two colors together, but that’s spending more than I want, almost doubling what I planned to spend. Or should I just go back and exchange the one I got for one with yellow gold? (Yes, I already got the diamond ring with the white gold already even though her wedding band from years ago is yellow.) But seems yellow is outdated these days. I’m stuck and don’t know what to do. Need your advice and/or feedback. Thanks!
what kind of wedding band can you get if you have sizing balls in the e-ring?
January 1st, 2011It’s a 14k white gold 1 carat princess cut stone with a stone on each side, but when i was ordered we did take 6 but it was not the correct size upoon arrival and we could not return it.So I took it the the local jeweler where I live and he put sizing balls in. And now i am wondering what kind of wedding band will fit with it . I have tried a plain white gold wedding band but because of the sizing balls it does not look right. The ring is only a half size too big but because of the setting and the way it is made my jeweler was afraid he would break the ring so he put those instead. It does not look too bad with the normal wedding band but i was wondering what other options that I actually have.
Thanks alot

Best metal for a mens wedding ring?
November 24th, 2010What do you think is the best metal for a mens wedding ring/band? Gold, white or yellow, platinum, titanium or tungsten.
Also, i was wondering is a tungsten band just cheaper than all the rest of them? Because i rarely hear of it
How should I ask for an engagement ring upgrade (+back story)?
November 22nd, 2010I got married this summer to the man of my dreams, but I will not get into details about that now.
He has a good education, a decent income and is doing financially good. He’s not rich, but well off for his age. I am currently studying and work part time. When I am finished with my degree, I will also receive a high salary.
Our parents split the cost of our wedding and my parents paid for the honeymoon (as a wedding gift).
For our engagement a year ago, he gave me an anonymous 0.15 ct solitaire white gold engagement ring. He told me that he spent an entire afternoon looking for a ring that was slim and without prominent prongs, so that it would suit my slender figure. But my hands are average with average fingers and rounded nails, so the thin ring is not flattering. It is nothing like my style/personality – I like things to be "different" and noticeable. We have the same sense of style, so I actually find it a bit weird that he wound up buying this ring. I would prefer a non diamond ring at the same price over this, but it’s a bit late for that now.
Also, it bothers me that it was such a small sacrifice for him. Yes, he spent an entire afternoon going through four or five different stores (together with his mom whom I suspect has something to do with what he wound up buying, though I could never say that to his face). I usually spend weeks researching and looking for every Christmas and birthday gift I get him. The ring cost about 1/4 of his monthly salary, and he could easily pay for it with his everyday debit card (not digging into his savings account).
It looks better on my hand now that I also have a wedding band (plain white gold band with one .10 ct diamond and the possibility to add more diamonds), but with the diamonds being almost the same size, the engagement ring is even more anonymous.
He has much less reluctance for self splurge: Since we got married, he has bought himself two expensive watches. One costing 00 and 00. I of course let him, even though we are married it is mostly his hard earned money. Watching him pay for it, and watching how happy and proud these items make him has made me think about the ring again. Earlier in our relationship he has bought himself another two 00 watches, and a 00 coat. Come to think of it, for Christmas and birthdays, I will always (unintentionally) match whatever he spends (we usually wind up spending around 0-0 each). We both like to shop, and in general as he has a better income he buys himself more expensive stuff than I do. The most expensive things I have bought over the years we have been together, are gifts for him. I am just writing this to underline that we are equally materialistic. He’s more of a show off than me, and when it comes to gifts, compared to what he buys for himself, I feel like his 2. priority.
The thing is, I would like to buy a new stone for my engagement ring – nothing huge, but .35-.45., so it will suit my hand better and differ more from the wedding band. I will keep the setting. I would also like to keep the old stone to later mount it to my wedding band, if possible (if not, I’ll mount it to something else later). I would gladly pay for the upgrade myself, but I doubt he knowingly would allow that, as it is supposed to be a gift from him. I soon have to turn the ring in for resizing (it’s always been too big) and a polish, so I could just "secretly" do the upgrade then, but he would definitely notice eventually, and I can’t think of any good excuses to say in such a situation.
I find the ring change hard to bring up. This is such a touchy subject… I don’t think saying anything about the stuff that really bothers me would make the situation any better. I just hope that one day he’ll surprise me with something elaborate and unexpected, which he put a lot of effort in (not necessarily money wise).
I am sure he will feel a little hurt when I say that I want to change the ring. But if I had bought him a watch he didn’t like, he would not wear it in public. I would get over it, and prompt him to sell it so he could buy a watch he really liked. A couple of years ago I bought him a pair of shoes that I liked as a surprise gift, and they have never been worn. I would like to say to him "Imagine if I bought you a watch you didn’t like and you had to wear it every day for the rest of your life." but it’s too harsh.
Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Inb4 "it’s not about the ring, it’s about the commitment" – yes, we are committed, but I still have to wear a ring I don’t like, and even flaunt it to everyone who asks. If a girl bought a pink motorcycle for her macho boyfriend, no one would react to him wanting to exchange/upgrade it. If the ring I got was the best he could afford I would wear it proudly till the day I die, even though it doesn’t suit me.
PS: I had a hard time cat
I somehow managed to cut the last sentence, it’s supposed to read:
"PS: I had a hard time categorizing the question, it’s about marriage and NOT about divorce"

Is it possbile to remove and replace princess cut diamonds in a channel setting on a wedding band?
November 10th, 2010The ring is 14k white gold. The diamonds in the channel setting are cloudy, and I wanted to know if I could have a jeweler take those diamonds out and replace with other princess cut diamonds.
How difficult would it be to find princess cut diamonds small enough to fit into the channel setting?
This is the ring

November 9th, 2010I’m getting a ring for my boyfriend because our two years is coming up.its just a promise ring,we’re both giving each other one. he has skinny fingers, size 7.would a 2mm band or 2.5 mm band look better? its just a plain 10 carat white gold band.im scared the 2mm will look girly but i dont want the 2.5mm to look bulky.

Can I change my white gold wedding ring to Platinum and if so how much roughly would it cost?
November 7th, 2010It turns out im allergic to my white gold wedding band-i think its the nickle in it. My engagement ring is platinum and hasnt caused any reaction but I got an awful irritation after I started wearing my wedding band.
Either that or im allergic to marriage!!
what metal is better for a wedding band?
November 4th, 2010i have just been looking around at wedding bands and spoke with a jeweler and he mentioned tanzinite versus white gold for a grooms ring. i dont know a whole lot about tanzinte and is wondering if anyone has any light to shed??
i was told by the jeweler that white gold tends to be softer and tanzinite will hold up better and be more scratch resistant
Wedding Ring Question?
October 30th, 2010Jumping off of Mozz’s question — what’s YOUR wedding ring like? Plain band? Stones? And your engagement ring? Do you wear both?
(My answers: Wedding ring is now a white gold band with inset stones; diamonds and sapphires. I got it for my 20th anniversary. Before that I had a plain white gold band. (Jewish weddings require you to be married in a plain band, though you can upgrade afterwards.) My engagement ring is a blue topaz. I no longer wear it because it doesn’t fit — I’ve gained a bit of weight since I got engaged. I should probably sell it, and the old wedding band, for the gold.)
my wedding band is causing a rash on my finger?
October 28th, 2010my engagement ring and wedding band are both white gold (i believe 14k) and for the past 2 months when I consistently wear them, [i say consistently because I have had to take them off due to the rash] I develop a rash that starts out burning and then turns to a severe itch with blisters. I’ve done some research and believe I have an allergic reaction to nickel (which it known to be found in gold jewelry) my questions are: 1) why is this just happening now? I’ve been wearing them for 5 years now and haven’t had a problem and 2) is there anything I can do to the ring that will make it wearable again? I HATE not wearing my rings!
FYI: I am 7 months pregnant and thought maybe the hormone change had something to do with it, but I asked my dr this morning and she said she has never heard anything like that…thats why im assuming its a nickel allergy.
Help me to find something to match this diamond wedding band?

How to remove acrylic paint from a gold ring.?
October 24th, 2010My wedding band is white gold and I was working on an art project using yellow acrylic paint. The paint seems to have stained the bottom of my ring! It isn’t thick enough for me to scrape or peel off, it is just tinted yellow. Please tell me how I can remove this! I’ve tried cleaning it myself with jewelry cleaner and also had it cleaned at the jewelers where it was purchased but I can still see the yellow tint. HELP PLEASE!!
Engagement ring plus wedding band with stones/diamonds?
October 23rd, 2010My friend and i are going through the wedding planning period together…and today we were talking about wedding bands and preferences. I’m getting passed my fiance’s mother’s wedding band (which i adore) so for me it’s a non-issue.
However, she was telling me what she had pictured for her wedding band. Her engagement ring is gorgeous, the diamond fairly good size…so it surprised me when she said she wants a wedding band that lined with gemstones and diamonds. I saw the ring she was looking at…eternity white gold band with garnet gemstones and i think 1.25 carat diamonds. It’s looks amazing…don’t get me wrong, i love the ring. At first i thought…it would look too busy. But then i started really picturing them together and the splash of color in there is kind of warming me to the idea.
But what’s your opinion on a wedding band laced with stones and diamonds on top of of a diamond engagement ring?
I dreamt that my husband was showing off the wedding band that another woman bought him?
October 22nd, 2010the wedding band was silver I think white gold, I was not happy with this because we were still togther and what was funny about it it was my step daughtr who was doing this. like she was the one marrying him. I love my step dghter she lives with us and she is 24yrs with a child.
